Many CrossFit gyms hold special events to allow friends and families to experience the CrossFit environment without being a member. Back in February, Break the Mold hosted a “Bring a Friend Day”. We had a lot of success with the event and saw a dozen new faces. This time, we decided to add a themed event instead of just doing a workout. Some gyms have a “WOD and Wine”, in which they do a wine tasting and a workout. Although this is a fun idea, we didn’t feel like it was an appropriate fit for our gym with the number of children we regularly train and we wanted to be inclusive of our whole population. With that, and some idea feedback from a friend, “Dumbbells and Donuts” was born.
We are still encouraging our members to bring a friend or two to this event. We also are recommending that everyone bring 3-6 of their favorite donuts. There will be a photo booth complete with donut props as well as take home boxes for everyone to mix and match a few of their favorite donuts. The workout will be dumbbell-centric and both beginner and child friendly. As always, we will have our playroom open if anyone needs to bring along the kiddos.
