Just as CrossFit is no longer a male dominated fitness regime, CrossFit is also no longer populated by those under 40. In fact, 25% of the members of Break the Mold are over 40. Below are a few reasons why our older members love Break the Mold.
- One on One Intro to CrossFit
At Break the Mold all of our new athletes attend five personal training sessions before they join a group class. This means that they get individualized attention and the movements are modified for their ability level. The other output of our intro course is a skill sheet that is shared among coaches and the individual athlete so that everyone knows what modifications each athlete might need. This ensures safety and a comfort level with CrossFit that is unique to our gym.
- Injury Prevention
Every class at Break the Mold ends with 10 minutes of stretching to improve mobility and decrease muscle soreness. This is key for all of our athletes but paramount to the success and injury prevention of our older members. We also work one on one with athletes to identify solutions for individual aches and pains.
- Individualized Modifications and Scaling
Even after our athletes graduate from our intro course, we still work with them one on one to ensure that they are safe in our group classes. The skill sheet from the intro course speeds that process up and allows us to cater to the individual athlete even in a group setting.
- Feel Young Again
Every Saturday our Steve’s Club high school and middle school athletes join our adults of all ages in a workout on Saturday mornings at 10am. This is a wonderful opporutnity to workout with people of all ages and enjoy the community of social impact that we embrace at Break the Mold.
